Moodle Dashboard

Access the Moodle Dashboard via the menu on the top left of Moodle. By default, the dashboard includes

  • Recently accessed Moodle pages
  • A timeline of events and due dates for all your Moodle course pages
  • A calendar showing events and due dates for all your Moodle course pages

Note that only activities like assignments and quizzes that have due dates assigned in Moodle will show up in the timeline and calendar.

Timeline

By default, the timeline shows upcoming assignments for all courses. Use the filter options to show assignments due within a specific time period.

While students can use the filter feature on the timeline to view overdue assignments, be aware that the timeline only shows overdue assignments from the past two weeks. Overdue assignments with earlier due dates do not appear on the timeline.

Calendar

Moodle activities like assignments and quizzes that have assigned due dates show up by default on the calendar. Use the menu at the top of the Calendar to filter events by course. Any user can add personal events to the calendar by selecting the New Event button. If multiple options are available for Type of event, be sure User is selected.

Faculty can add additional events to the calendar for their classes by changing Type of event from User to Course and then selecting the appropriate course from the options.

If you have a calendar block enabled in your course page, events will also appear there.

You can export a .ics file of your Moodle calendar using the export option at the bottom of the calendar in order to import it into Google Calendar. Note, however, that any changes to the Moodle calendar will not automatically appear on your Google Calendar, so it is important to keep checking due dates in Moodle to be sure your information is accurate.
