Case #: 220462
Date: 2022 12 14
Time: 1915
Description: Theft - Other
Location: Bookstore/Homer’s Hut
Notes: A CSO responded to a report of a theft from the Reed bookstore. The CSO spoke with bookstore employees who reported that an unknown individual entered the bookstore and proceeded to ask the employees “a series of odd questions,” then left the bookstore. Approximately one hour and thirty minutes later, the individual returned and took a bag of chips without paying for them, stating that they did not have an ID card. Based on the two interactions the employees had had with the individual, they locked the bookstore and contacted Community Safety. The CSO recommended the bookstore remain locked for the remainder of the evening, only being unlocked to admit Reed community members with proof of ID. While the CSO was speaking with the bookstore employees, another CSO patrolled the immediate area in search of the unknown individual. The CSO encountered that individual and recognized them as having been escorted off campus earlier in the year (for asking community members if they had drugs to share). The CSO again escorted the individual off campus.
Case #: 220463
Date: 2022 12 16
Time: 1454
Description: Suspicious Person/Activity/Circumstances
Location: Growing Seeds Childcare
Notes: A CSO on patrol encountered a camping vehicle with an attached trailer parked outside of the Growing Seeds Childcare. The CSO approached the vehicle and conversed with the occupants. The driver stated that they had run out of gas and were waiting for someone to help them. The CSO advised the driver that they were parked in front of a childcare facility and that if the vehicle were not moved it would be reported as a non-functioning vehicle. The vehicle has since been moved.
Case #: 220464 - VOID REPORT
CS Survey Responses:
Every week Community Safety requests survey responses from those who've had interactions with a member of the Community Safety team. These responses are always collected anonymously with the option for the responder to leave contact information if they would like for a member of Community Safety management to contact them, and are used internally for departmental performance tracking. Community Safety has opted to publish these survey results for transparency and community accountability. *Names and pronouns mentioned in survey responses will be redacted to protect the privacy of individuals.
In addition to surveys sent directly to those who have interacted with Community Safety, the Reed community is always encouraged to independently complete the survey regarding Community Safety's performance.
You can take the survey here:

I'm not sure who answered the phone but that dispatched quickly and (Redacted) was there quickly and was a joy to interact with. :)

The CSO was extremely helpful as always.
Escort
Below expectations
The CSO on the phone seemed unaware of the nature of my request. I had to explain that I wanted a vehicle escort, and then they said that Community Safety doesn't do vehicle escorts. They also asked the reason why I was requesting a transport, which was sensitive to me as I was told by SHARE advocates that I would not need to explain why I was requesting an escort. I think perhaps more communication between Community Safety and SHARE would be good because advocates are telling survivors about this resource that does not seem to be supported. Ultimately I did not get any escort because the phone interaction felt very uncomfortable.
