Description: Damage to Property
Location: Birchwood Apartments
Notes: A CSO responded to a report of a damaged bike. The CSO met with a student who stated that their bike and bike lock had been damaged in an apparent theft attempt. The bike had been secured at the Birchwood’s parking lot bike rack at the time of the incident. The CSO encouraged the student to also report the incident to the police.

Notes: A CSO on patrol found evidence of multiple small fires near the Physics building. Portland Fire was contacted to determine the cause(s) of the fires.

Notes: A CSO on patrol found evidence of a small fire being started near the Chemistry building. Portland Fire was contacted to determine the cause of the fire.

Description: Evidence of Drug Use
Location: GCC
Notes: A CSO clearing from a previous call encountered the odor of cannabis near the GCC. The CSO traced the odor to the Amphitheater. The CSO saw a group of students in the area, however the CSO determined that the odor likely wasn’t coming from the group and didn’t interact with them. The CSO was unable to determine the source of the cannabis odor and continued on their patrol.

Notes: A CSO responded to a report from a Reed staff member that a tree appeared to have been hit by a large vehicle and gained a noticeable crack. Out of an abundance of caution, the area was taped off and a car in danger of being crushed should the tree fall, was moved.

Description: Suspicious Person/Activity/Circumstances
Location: Campus
Notes: A CSO responded to a report of four unknown individuals in the Grove Parking Lot. The CSO encountered individuals matching the reported descriptions in the Student Union, but the four left the building before the CSO was able to interact with them. The same four were spotted again approximately one hour later lying in the Sports Field. The CSO approached them in the field, and after confirming that they were not affiliated with the college, escorted them off campus without incident.

Notes: A CSO responded to a report of a burglary at the ÐÓ°ÉÊÓƵ apartments. The CSO met with a student who reported that their apartment appeared to have been broken into and a painting had been stolen from off of the wall.

Description: Medical Assist
Location: Administrative Building
Notes: A CSO responded to a request for medical assistance at an administrative building. The CSO met with a student who had received a small injury on their head. After determining there was no immediate need for further medical care, the CSO provided the student with some first aid supplies and provided the student with an escort to their residence. The CSO then cleared from the call.
CS Survey Responses
Every week Community Safety requests survey responses from those who've had interactions with a member of the Community Safety team. These responses are always collected anonymously with the option for the responder to leave contact information if they would like for a member of Community Safety management to contact them, and are used internally for departmental performance tracking. Community Safety has opted to publish these survey results for transparency and community accountability. *Names and pronouns mentioned in survey responses will be redacted to protect the privacy of individuals.
In addition to surveys sent directly to those who have interacted with Community Safety, the Reed community is always encouraged to independently complete the survey regarding Community Safety's performance.
