Description: Damage to Property
Location: Theatre Annex

Notes: A CSO on vehicle patrol observed new graffiti on the street-facing wall of the Theatre Annex. A work order for its removal has not yet been placed, as community safety is waiting for a response as to whether the image been painted with permission by someone in the Reed community.

Notes: A law enforcement official reported that a Reed student had made a death threat
toward the U.S. President and asked for assistance in contacting the student.

Location: Residence Hall 

Notes: A CSO responded to a request for assistance at a residence hall. The reporting party expressed some safety concerns regarding the behavior of another Reed community member. The CSO recommended the student speak with their Area Coordinator, or the Community Safety Director to look into a possible No Contact Order if the student felt that action could be warranted.

Location: Grove Dorms

Notes: A CSO on patrol encountered signs of possible forced entry at entrances to Bidwell and Sitka. The CSO did not note any other damage or signs of suspicious activity. The Dispatcher submitted a work order request for repairs to the damaged doors.

Description: Fire
Location: Birchwood parking lot

Notes: A CSO responded to a report of a possible dumpster fire in the Birchwood Apartments parking lot. The responding CSO observed smoke emitting from the dumpster and successfully extinguished a small fire with a two gallon container of water. The CSO observed that no damage appeared to have been done to the dumpster or any other property in question.

Description: Medical Assist - Alcohol / Medical Amnesty
Location: Central Campus

Notes: A CSO responded to a request for medical assistance for a student who was
feeling unwell after consuming alcohol. After assessing the student with the,
“Signs of Alcohol or Other Drug Overdose Emergencies,” yellow card, the CSO
determined that no further medical intervention would be necessary at that time.
The CSO escorted the student and their friends back to the student’s residence and
provided the group with a yellow card and the recommendation to call community
safety again if the student’s condition deteriorated.

Description: Noise Complaint
Location: McKinley

Notes: A CSO responded to a noise complaint regarding loud music near the McKinley common room. The CSO made contact with the student who was playing the loud music and requested they lower the volume of their music to a level appropriate for a shared space at that time of evening. The student apologized for any disruption their music caused and the CSO continued on with their patrol priorities.

 

CS Survey Responses

Every week Community Safety requests survey responses from those who've had interactions with a member of the Community Safety team. These responses are always collected anonymously with the option for the responder to leave contact information if they would like for a member of Community Safety management to contact them, and are used internally for departmental performance tracking. Community Safety has opted to publish these survey results for transparency and community accountability. *Names and pronouns mentioned in survey responses will be redacted to protect the privacy of individuals.

In addition to surveys sent directly to those who have interacted with Community Safety, the Reed community is always encouraged to independently complete the survey regarding Community Safety's performance.
