Description: Larceny, Theft
Location: Sports Center

Notes: A student came to 28 West to report that several items, including a pair of AirPods, of theirs had been stolen from the Sports Center last week. Together, the CSO on site and the student located the AirPods with the “Find My” app. The student did not wish to file a formal police report at that time so no further actions were taken.

Notes: Community Safety excluded a non-community member from campus based on student safety concerns. Community Safety also directed the reporting student to the Area Coordinator and the SHARE Program Director as further resources.

Description: Evidence of Drug Use
Location: Trillium

Notes: A CSO on patrol in Trillium discovered an empty cannabis cigarette container being used as an ashtray. The CSO properly disposed of the container and cleared the scene.

Location: KRRC

Notes: A CSO arrived at the KRRC in response to a triggered fire alarm. The CSO encountered the strong odor of cannabis in the KRRC room, but no other persons were present so the CSO could not locate the source of the odor. The CSO aired out the room, reset the alarm, and cleared the scene.

Description: Unsafe Vehicle Use
Location: Campus

Notes: Community Safety received an email report of a moped being driven recklessly across campus. Descriptions of the reckless driving witnessed included speeding, disregarding traffic signs, and nearly hitting pedestrians. Community Safety has forwarded this report to the appropriate department for further follow up.

Notes: Community Safety received an email from a member of the Library staff stating the door to the Special Collections and Archives appeared to have been forced open. No damage or missing items were reported.

Notes: A CSO responded to a report of a stolen bicycle. The student whose bicycle was stolen stated that it had been secured in the Foster/Sholtz bike storage.

Description: Medical Assist
Location: Residence Hall

Notes: CSOs responded to a student experiencing negative side effects after consuming alcohol and other drugs. The CSOs referred to the yellow card, “Signs of Alcohol or Other Drug Overdose Emergencies” and determined that the student was not suffering from an overdose emergency, but out of an abundance of caution, they offered the student transport to a medical facility, which the student declined. With the aid of friends, the student was brought to their room. The student was left in the company of a friend and the CSOs gave the friend a yellow medical card. The friend agreed to call if the situation worsened and the CSOs cleared the scene.

Description: Evidence of drug use
Location: McKinley

Notes: A CSO on patrol near the McKinley Residence Hall encountered the strong scent of cannabis which they deducted was originating from somewhere inside the residence hall. The CSO was unable to find the source of the smell after a patrol of the building.

 

CS Survey Responses:

Every week Community Safety requests survey responses from those who've had interactions with a member of the Community Safety team. These responses are always collected anonymously with the option for the responder to leave contact information if they would like for a member of Community Safety management to contact them, and are used internally for departmental performance tracking. Community Safety has opted to publish these survey results for transparency and community accountability. *Names and pronouns mentioned in survey responses will be redacted to protect the privacy of individuals.

In addition to surveys sent directly to those who have interacted with Community Safety, the Reed community is always encouraged to independently complete the survey regarding Community Safety's performance.
